Just a gardening tip: plant your annual seeds now, in the fall. Many annuals require a period of cold, wet weather in order to germinate later in the year. For spring blossoms, think ahead. I am working on converting much of my backyard garden to native plants, and so I have sewn (strewn) California Poppies in a sunny spot in hopes of creating a schmear of orange blossoms there by early summer.
